Kit Denton remembered in Writers Foundation Disfellowship

The Australian Writers Foundation (AWF) and Andrew Denton’s company Zapruder’s Other Films has launched the Kit Denton Disfellowship. Andrew Denton’s father, Kit Denton, was a highly successful writer and ABC Radio drama producer, this fellowship remembers him by encouraging writers with “a dangerous idea” to develop their scripts.

Previously known as the Kit Denton Fellowship, the competition is being relaunched in its fifth year as a Disfellowship, because winning it may mean that “your nan disowns you, your neighbours shun you and the shock jocks call for you to be locked up”.

The Kit Denton Disfellowship is a grant and support worth $30,000 to help script writers get their idea written for screen production. Initiated by Zapruder’s Other Films, the award aims to find ideas of substance, intelligence and purpose that will take viewers outside their comfort zone and attract writers with talent, tenacity and courage to tell their story.
