Kyle and Jackie O launched on Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1 this morning after a long build up and much hype.
It was business as usual this morning for the pair and other Melbourne stations with KIIS also announcing their ‘noise’ is now worth $200,000. The Fox 101.9‘s Secret Sound prize is $150K.
Sandilands said:
“It’s the day of the revolution. The beginning of the 20-year dream of going national, one city at a time.”
For their debut they were joined on air by Jason Derulo, Michael Bublé, Rob Schneider and PM Anthony Albanese.
The Kyle & Jackie O Show can now be heard on KIIS 101.1 Melbourne and KIIS 1065 Sydney every weekday morning from 6.00am. Highlights from each day’s show are replayed across the KIIS Network nationally at 6.00pm, or via ARN’s free iHeart app.
This is not a prediction about the actual program.
The argument is will a Sydney-based program work in Melbourne and vice versa.
We've recall the networking of 2UE and 3AK to form the CBC Network in the mid-1980s.
Similarly the networking of 1377 MTR with some programs emanating from Sydney.
That too was a flop.
On the other hand, network programs from Sydney have been successful with presenters such as Jack Davey (RIP).
Programs from 2GB continue with success to intra and interstate station.
Thus there is no rule to suggest that a program syndicated from Sydney will fail.
Time will tell tell whether the "shock" style program of K and J O' will succeed in Melbourne.
Let us not forget that there are programs emanating from Melbourne maintaining an audience in Sydney
Thank you
Anthony, there are no hard and fast rules suggesting that a program from Sydney will succeed or flop in Melbourne, of Strathfield South, in the land of the Wangal and Darug People's of the Eora Nation
