UPDATE: Kyle has released this statement: “ARN has just announced that they’ve terminated my contract. I don’t accept it.” Full text here.
This afternoon, on the final day of his two week deadline to rectify the breach of his ARN’s services agreement Kyle Sandilands briefly stopped to update waiting reporters on what the next stage might look like.
He said:
“I can’t say too much as I haven’t heard anything yet. I still want to do the show. The listeners want me back there doing the show.
At the end of the day, I’ve got a contract with ARN and I expect them to honour that. And I do have some options if they don’t.”
Questions thrown at him, but not answered included:
‘But you’ll want your money?’
‘Have you spoken to Jackie O?’
‘Is it over with KIIS?’
And the one that drew a wry smile, ‘Are you going to buy ARN?’
The ASX has closed for the day, so there’ll be no update there untill tomorrow. Kyle is reportedly filming Australian Idol live this evening and could say something there, but it looks likely the resolution of the Kyle and Jackie O Show’s future is going to wait just a little bit longer.
