Linda Mottram says goodbye to 702 ABC Sydney

After four years presenting the Mornings program, Linda Mottram today announced she will not be returning to 702 ABC Sydney next year.

Mottram has brought a wealth of journalistic experience to 702 ABC Sydney. She is a Walkley Award winning ABC foreign correspondent who has covered the Middle East, Moscow and the Balkans for Australian listeners. Mottram has presented the ABC’s flagship current affairs program AM, worked as Radio Australia’s Canberra correspondent and has been responsible for leading editorial training in the ABC.

Linda said:

After four terrific years at 702 presenting the Mornings program I’ve decided it’s time to hang up the head phones. I’ve enjoyed being a strong voice for Sydney and the Central Coast, and being able to reflect the massive change that’s happening all around us back to the broader community.”

“While I’ll miss my amazing team of producers and of course the listeners, who are the reason I come to work each day, it has been a demanding job and I’m keen to get back to my roots and reconnect with my love of long form journalism, policy and research issues, exploring opportunities inside and outside the ABC.”

ABC Local Manager in Sydney, Cath Dwyer, thanked Linda for her contribution to Local Radio:

“Linda has made a terrific contribution to 702 ABC Sydney over the past four years. She is a highly respected journalist and broadcaster and has enjoyed a distinguished career with the ABC as a foreign correspondent, reporter and presenter. With Linda’s departure from 702 we’ll take the opportunity to refresh the program in 2016. We wish Linda all the best for the future.”

Linda will present her final Mornings program on Friday December 4.

The full 2016 broadcast schedule and line-up will be announced later this year.
