Local derby NRL bet is on between Queensland Premier David Crisafulli and Triple M Brisbane’s Dan Anstey

It’s Dan Anstey versus Premier David Crisafulli.

It’s a huge Saturday for Queensland NRL fans, whoever you follow, with the Redcliffe Dolphins v the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville followed by the Gold Coast Titans up against the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp. As a result, things got a little heated in the Triple M Brisbane studios and a bet was brokered between Breakfast host Dan Anstey (pictured main in the maroon – naturally) and Queensland Premier David Crisafulli.

As soon as Premier Crisafulli, a proud Cowboys fan entered Triple M, the home of the Dolphins, it was on.

“Here’s the bet,” Anstey said. “If the Dolphins beat the Cowboys you have to insert the word dolphin and the phrase “Phins Up” in the press conference.”

The Premier replied:

“That’s the easiest challenge that you’ve given me, I can talk about a flashlight, a brand of team, a marine animal, I can mention the sporting team. That’s easy.

But if the Cowboys win, and we are severely the underdog, the next time you’re on TV doing the crazy things you do, I want to see you in a Cowboys jersey.”

Anstey said:

“Alright bet’s on. You’ll get me in a Cowboys jersey, but you’ve got to insert Dolphins as many times into a press conference.”

The Marto, Margaux and Dan went on to discuss the changing of the Queensland Labour Day Public Holiday with the Premier saying:

“I don’t want to do that, but I have got people who say we should consider Queensland Day to be a public holiday.

Queensland Day celebrates the day we broke away from New South Wales and who doesn’t like that. It’s something that every Queenslander loves.”

That last sentence will sound even better to Dan after Saturday if the Premier is forced to add ‘Up the Phins!’
