Luke Bradnam’s ACRA awarded to an imposter

It’s amazing the lengths people will go to pick up an ACRA…

On Saturday night in Brisbane, Gold 92.5’s Luke Bradnam was called to the stage to pick up his ACRA for “Best Station Produced Comedy Segment” in a provincial market – that being the Gold Coast.

Except that Luke was actually doing a live television cross at the time for Channel Nine where he moonlights as the weatherman.

So, someone pretending to be Luke picked up the ACRA. After stewards were called and DNA samples taken, it was revealed that the imposter was Luke’s twin brother Ashley who also happens to be a radio presenter, part of the Nova 106.9 Breakfast team: Ash, Kip, Luttsy & Susie.

Luke (the one that won the ACRA but didn’t get to the stage to recieve his ACRA) told The Gold Coast Bulletin, “The weather finished and I was bolting back to get to the awards before my award was up in case I had won.

“When I got there, Ashley was posing on the red carpet with my trophy. That’s how I knew I’d won. And I’m spewing that I missed it.”

This wasn’t the first time the twins have got up to mischief. “It was probably the third or fourth award he’s accepted for me,” said Luke. “We’d be the only identical twins in radio. We’re the only ones who could get away with it. It’s pretty unique.”
