Magic 89.9 and 5CC rebrand to Tuna 899 and 5 Double Tuna for Port Lincoln’s Tunarama Festival

Something fishy happened during Port Lincoln’s iconic Tunarama festival with Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters (temporarily) rebranding its local radio stations to celebrate the event’s long-awaited return.

Magic 89.9 and 5CC became Tuna 899 and 5 Double Tuna for the 2026 Tunarama festival earlier this month that celebrates the region’s world-class seafood industry.

Tunarama returned in 2026 after a two-year hiatus, attracting around 20,000 visitors to Port Lincoln. Both stations broadcast live from the festival on Friday, while Riz and Brooke from Tuna 899 (pictured above) took to the road on Saturday, broadcasting live from the back of the station’s float during the Tunarama parade.

The rebrand even included new car stickers on the station vehicle, along with refreshed station IDs, stingers and promotional material across the airwaves.

Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters Content Director Brett Prince said the rebrand was worth the effort.

“When the boss first suggested rebranding Magic 899 and 5CC to Tuna 899 and 5 Double Tuna, my instinct was to think about having him committed — he’d lost his marbles. But Tunarama is the festival on the Eyre Peninsula that everybody looks forward to, and with it returning in 2026, it felt like the perfect way to show our support.

It took a huge amount of work from our Port Lincoln team and right across the ARN network, but am I happy with the outcome?

You betcha.

Will I want to go through it all again in 2027?

Ask me again in 12 months.”

It looked fintastic. I think they should tuna in again next year for shore.
