Managers out in new SBS Radio structure

SBS Radio is undergoing major changes, with a restructure announced late last week that will put in place four output managers under the Director of Radio.

The four new senior positions will be advertised this weekend, as managers of content, business affairs, digital, and quality & standards. A consultant has also been engaged to examine further possible changes, cost cutting, improved work practices and improved output & ratings.

All four positions will answer to the new Director of Radio Paula Masselos, who took up the position late last year (see organisational chart below).

She replaced Tuong Quang Luu who stepped down after 17 years as head of SBS Radio.

The structure below the four new positions is yet to be determined, although some roles are known to be going, including the Sydney and Melbourne station managers. Another senior manager David Ingram leaves the corporation tomorrow.

There are also on-air changes, with SBS radio now broadcasting live reads. Previously it has only accepted pre-recorded advertisements with a total advertising limit of five minutes in an hour.
