Mark ‘MG’ Geyer has joined Sydney’s 2GB and Nine Radio on a three-year deal after being let go from his Breakfast co-host role with 104.9 Triple M Sydney in November last year.
Not only will the former Australian rugby league international be part of 2GB’s new Drive program Sydney Now with Clinton Maynard, he also joins the Wide World of Sports and The Continuous Call Team programs, the latter a team member short since Ray Hadley‘s retirement last year.
Geyer said:
“I’m pumped to be joining the team at 2GB and very grateful for the opportunity. Some of the biggest names in radio have gone through those 2GB corridors, so it’s humbling to be a part of such an established team.”
2GB Content Manager Luke Davis said:
“MG is a league legend, an experienced media personality, a business owner, a voice of Western Sydney, and never short of an opinion. We’re looking forward to his unique insights each day on Sydney Now and across the NRL season.”
Geyer joins Continuous Call Team members Paul Gallen, Darryl ‘The Big Marn’ Brohman, Mark ‘Piggy’ Riddell, Josh Morris and host and lead commentator Mark Levy who will balance his CCT responsibilities around his new full-time job hosting Mornings on 2GB, also replacing Ray Hadley.
With Triple M Sydney replacing Geyer on breakfast with two other former NRL players, Aaron Woods and Beau Ryan, this move is a good one from 2GB with MG a well known voice and identity in broadcasting and rugby league circles who has time before season 2025 commences to get to know how Nine and Continuous Call team coverage works, different to Triple M.
