Matt, Jo and Jerimiah live without a net… or a playout system

“This is the Fox on pedal power this morning…”

It’s always fun to see how skilled radio hosts get out of trouble when the technology let’s them down.

Matt & Jo and audio producer Jerimiah soldiered on this morning when the playout system froze and they had to do most of the content live until the system was up and running again.

Jerimiah enlisted Matt & Jo’s aid to do the show’s intro for guest Julia Morris live, and below, hear all the mayhem as it unfolded around 6am. In fact, maybe Jerimiah was really the star of the show today. We put that question to him:

“I’ve always maintained I’m the real star of the Matt & Jo Show. And thanks to the Y2K bug finally hitting Fox FM, my comedic brilliance finally had a chance to shine through. The Jeza Show (with two other unimportant clowns)… has a nice ring to it.”

The team explained to radioinfo:

“Basically at 5.55am, we were playing back the best bits from yesterday’s show, and everything just stopped.  Dead air.  This went on for 45 seconds until the backup tape kicked in, as is protocol, before the guys were able to come back on air about 10 minutes later. Below is the moment where it all unfolded on air.”

Here’s the audio of gremlins in the system before everything crashed (check out Troy’s distorted voice!) as well as the moment they finally make it back on air.

And with the techs running around the hallways fixing the computers in Austereo’s Melbourne building, next shift host on Triple M, Dangerous Dave, isn’t taking any chances today…

Matt, Jo and Jerimiah kept smiling through it all, and so did their guests.
