Melbourne’s roads put to the test

See Brig & Lehmo’s live cross-platform traffic experiment

Last year, Gold 104.3’s ‘Traffic Challenge’ tested whether it was faster to get from suburban Nunawading to their Richmond studios in peak hour traffic by car, push bike or public transport.

On Tuesday, the Victorian state government dedicated $8bn to the East – West Link Tunnel Project, and breakfast duo Brig & Lehmo thought it prudent to check that the money’s being spent on the right road by conducting Brig & Lehmo’s Road Test.

Greens MP for the Western Suburbs, Colleen Hartland, was sent over the Westgate, Leader of the Opposition Daniel Andrews on the Monash and Lehmo took to the Eastern. Each car started 28km away from Federation Square and headed into the city, leaving at 0755.

Lehmo got off to a cracking start hitting Punt Rd in excellent time…while Hartland trundled over the Westgate and Andrews idled along the Monash. However Punt Rd is where Lehmo stayed for quite some time…

Listeners were able to track progress live on Gold 104.3’s website, as it happened (pictured).
