Merrick and Rosso walkout in response to Confidential story: Audio

Incensed at an article in The Confidential section of Sydney’s Daily Telegraph that claims the boys are quitting Nova 969 in November, Merrick and Rosso twice harangued their listeners during their breakfast show to refute the allegations.

The story began, “AFTER seven successful years riding the FM radio airwaves, Nova 969 duo Merrick Watts and Tim Ross are believed to be hanging up their headphones at the end of 2008”.

It went on to suggest that the boys are leaving to concentrate more on their television interests through their own production company, Smoke and Mirrors. Read the full Telegraph article here.

Having read the article themselves, by 6:28am in today’s breakfast show, it was Merrick and Rosso’s turn to tell their side of the story which they did at some length. Their trademark humour barely disguising their anger.

Then at 8:36am the pair staged a walkout leaving Kate Ritchie to fend for herself. But not for long.
