Microsoft’s Steve Vamos speaking at ACMA Conference next month

ACMA has snared the Managing Director of Microsoft Australia Steve Vamos for a keynote speech at the Australian Communications and Media Authority’s 2006 Conference in Canberra next month.

The ICE (Information Communications Entertainment) conference will take place on 23 and 24 November at the Hyatt Hotel. Early bird registrations are still available.

ACMA Chairman Chris Chapman is “delighted” Vamos has agreed to speak: “His track record in the ICT industry is second to none and I know his qualities as a leader are highly regarded. He’s also an impressive and knowledgeable public speaker, and I’m looking forward to getting his unique perspective on communications in the current climate,”

Vamos was appointed to the Business Council of Australia’s Taskforce in 2005. Under his chairmanship the taskforce released the 2006 research report, New Concepts in Innovation . Also in 2005m Steve Vamos was appointed founding President of the Society for Knowledge Economics.

Before joining Microsoft Australia in February 2003 Vamos was CEO of ninemsn for five years, during which time he transformed ninemsn from a start-up company to Australia ‘s leading online media industry player. He has also been Managing Director of Apple Computer Australia, Managing Director of Apple Computer Asia-Pacific, and has spent 14 years with IBM in Australia and Japan.
