Mix 106.3 packs the bus full of pressies again this Christmas

Mix 106.3, Transport Canberra and Communities at Work have joined together again this Christmas, asking Canberrans help them pack a Transport Canberra bus with essential food and toy items for kids and families in need.

In 2023 Pack the Bus saw nearly 14,000 individual donations, packing the bus several times over. The bus will be out and about from Monday 25 November, for 3-weeks, collecting much needed items from pre-arranged locations including schools, shopping centres and supermarkets. The bus will be difficult to miss with its Christmas scenes from around the ACT and some naughty elves catching a ride with Santa in the driver’s seat.

All donations collected will be distributed through local charity organisation, Communities at Work.

Craig Wagstaff, amplifyCBR General Manager said:

“Set for its 5th year since 2021, everyone at MIX106.3 are excited to again team-up with Transport Canberra, Communities at Work and our community-focused commercial partners for the return of Pack the Bus in November and December. Over the years, there have quite literally been thousands of items donated so very generously by people and businesses from across the Canberra & Queanbeyan region. We all hope that again this year, it will be a significant benefit to families during the festive season. It’s a wonderful initiative, based on the significant support of so many, for so many, and for that, we’re extremely thankful.”

Ian McGlinn, Executive Branch Manager for Transport Canberra’s Bus Operations.

“Transport Canberra is proud to be a continuous partner of Mix 106.3’s Pack the Bus initiative, bringing to life an incredible Aussie Christmas themed bus and spreading joy to the Canberra community every year. Our bus drivers and staff always look forward to the unveiling of the bus and to being part of a great campaign that makes such a positive difference in the lives of so many children and families in need in Canberra.”

And Communities at Work CEO, Michelle Colefax added,

“Mix 106.3’s Pack the Bus campaign makes a huge impact to our ability to bring joy and hope to people in need. Last year, three-quarters of the food and gifts donations we received for our Christmas Appeal came directly from Pack the Bus. We couldn’t have had such an impact without the incredible vision, support, and commitment of Mix 106.3 Canberra’s staff and this campaign. We’re so proud to be part of such a great collaborative partnership.”
