Mix 106.3 deliveries some good luck in Canberra

One of radio’s great strengths is the ability to be there when your listeners need you the most, and to reach out to them with some good luck from time to time.  Mix 106.3’s Kristen and Rod in Canberra are doing just that, with their Good Luck Truck.

Kristen and Rod first heard the idea on Newcastle’s KOFM and thought it would be great for their show and their listeners, and to be able to give something back to the people of Canberra. A very simple concept where listeners are asked to submit what they, or someone they know, need to make their lives a little better.

After just 2 weeks on-air, Kristen and Rod’s Good Luck Truck has received over 1,200 submissions and made over 15 deliveries around the ACT. Deliveries have varied from kids toys and shoes, to fridges, vacuum cleaners and lounge suites.

“It’s amazing what people want to help make a difference,” says Canberra FM Promotions Manager Zak Davies.

They recently paid a visit to Karlie, who lost her husband just 9 days after they were married.  Check out the video below.

Kristen and Rod have been on-air together since January 2014.  The first GFK Survey results for Canberra are due next Wednesday (April 22).

Karlie's husband died 9 days after their wedding. Her story broke our hearts – so we sent her a little love from Kristen and Rod's Good Luck Truck and Westfield Woden and Westfield Belconnen. Our Good Luck team includes Communities at Work and Rolfe Renault.
