The worst drought in living memory has elevated water to the status of radio giveaway.

Melbourne’s Mix101.1 is giving away 600 litres of that city’s most precious resource – water – to the best caller of the day.

Breakfast presenters Tracy Bartram and Tim Smith, who this week celebrated their first birthday on-air at the station, will be visiting listeners’ homes of listeners with a grey water trailer to give Melbourne gardens some much needed water!

Bartram has told radioinfo, “This water giveaway is a further initiative to our ‘go green’ commitment for 2007.”

And Smith is almost in need of a hosing down: “It is perceivably possible that if you won this giveaway every day for two weeks you could transform your backyard into a rainforest!”
