Mother and Daughter go furthest to win $10,000 in Nova 969 listener comp

How far would you go to win $10,000? Three teams of contestants lined up at the beginning of last week at Nova 969’s Pyrmont studios to find out. The winnning team in the Do A Runner promotion had to travel the furthest from the Sydney starting point in a week. Of course, there was a catch.

There’s always a catch. In this case, the catch was they had no money, no credit cards, no communication devices and could not rely on friends or family for help.

They also had a chaperone (a Casanova) that they had to factor in their travel arrangements.

Three diverse teams started in the competition; “the mother and daughter team”, “the backpackers” and “the body builders”.

The mother daughter team comprised of Olga (40) a hairdresser, and mum to four children, and her daughter Angelina (18) studying to be a teacher but also holds two part time jobs at a motorcycle shop and at the cinemas.

Backpackers Nick (32) and Pat (34) have a world of travel skills behind them; both avid travellers are skilled in navigating foreign lands on a limited budget.

Team Bodybuilder, Michael and Chris, both 21 were men on a mission. Michael has been travelling extensively since he was 16 so his knowledge of the world is sure to assist this competition.

9AM Friday morning, saw the competition come to a close with the mother daughter team Olga and Angelina winning the $10,000.

Travelling 17,430kms from Sydney the ladies took it out with team Body Builders trailing close behind at 15,998kms to NYC and The Back Packers totaling 12,425kms.
