MRN’s FiftyUpClub

As anyone who’s seen a Sydney survey can tell you, Macquarie Radio Network’s 2GB and 2CH have enormous combined reach in the 50+ demographic.

They are a loyal, committed audience, demonstrated by the powerful TSL numbers for the two stations.

To give something tangible back to their listeners, and as an interesting non-traditional revenue opportunity, MRN has combined with One Big Switch and launched the “FiftyUpClub”.

People aged 50 plus are a huge section of the market, (1 in 3 Australians are 50 or over). They hold about 50% of household buying power, but despite this they often feel that they are overlooked by corporate Australia. MRN says that The FiftyUpClub is built upon a simple belief that FiftyUps are, more often than not the best customers that companies can hope for. They are often lower risk, higher value, and will stick with providers they like and respect.

MRN has invited listeners to join the FiftyUpClub for free with the idea that combined, the power of these consumers will help to secure discounts and unique deals on products and services that specifically relate to the Fifty plus audience. It’s something that every listener can take advantage of, should they wish.

The business case is that these listeners are a very attractive group of consumers that the FiftyUpClub can offer access to. The pay off is that when a product or service is sold to a member, the Club earns a commission paid by the provider.

Currently, over 40,000 people have signed up online for the FiftyUpClub. Offers are only available to New South Wales residents at this time, but national offers are being planned.  www.fiftyupclub.com
