Australia’s First Nations digital radio broadcasters, 98.9 in Brisbane, Noongar in Perth, 3KND in Melbourne and Sydney’s Koori Radio will come together during NAIDOC Week 2015 for a special, national community radio event.

Utilising the CBAA’s Digital Radio Project infrastructure the four stations will collaborate to produce a 12-hour live special on 8 July celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples.

“The 2014 Invasion Day national digital broadcast combining First Nations metropolitan broadcasters was a major success and signals a new spirit of cooperation in the sector,” said Tiga Bayles, CEO of Brisbane’s 98.9 FM. 
 
“The 2015 NAIDOC Week provides an opportune time build on that success and showcase events and stories from each region on our digital services.”   
 
In addition to the First Nation stations in four capital cities, the broadcast will be available to all community broadcasters via the CBAA’s satellite distribution platform, CRN 2 and via the National Indigenous Radio Service.

The Community Broadcasting Foundation has provided funding to enable the production.
