NEMBC Sports broadcasters help celebrate 140 years of Chinese involvement in Aussie Rules footy

For the first time at the Sydney Cricket Ground, NEMBC sports broadcasters will do a live-call game in Mandarin tonight to celebrate 140 years of Chinese involvement in Aussie Rules Football.

As part of this occasion NEMBC members Agnes Yao Lu and Barney Yu Xia will call the game between Sydney and West Coast, from 4.35pm.

Last night the league launched the book Celestial Footy: the Story of Chinese Heritage Aussie Rules by Patrick Skene at the Swans’ new headquarters at the Royal Hall of Industries. The book explores the little-known history of Chinese involvement in the sport, starting on Ballarat’s gold fields.

Agnes Yao Lu gave a short presentation about her Chinese heritage and of her involvement with NEMBC MEDIA at the book launch.

Listen to the call on the AFL Live App.
