There’s a new voice on air this week at Hitz 939 Bundaberg, with Kenny Williams joining the team as Music Director and Drive Presenter after 3 years with Sea FM Wide Bay.
Kenny, who is originally from the Gold Coast, kick-started his career with a Diploma in Multimedia at Hervey Bay, where he began to learn how to edit sound and his passion grew to explore the world.
“After returning from several years away overseas living in Brazil, I knew who I was as an individual, and knew how to stand out in a crowd…and before too long, I began work on the local radio station driving the Cruiser, using my celeb impersonations to promote the daily giveaways. Full time Radio announcing came very quick, from being a humble casual cruiser driver, and, before you could say “Mic’s Up” I was already on my way to Bundaberg as the Full Time Announcer. I think it only took a few hours before I realised Bundaberg was the Town I had always wanted to live in. Within 12 months I bought my very st home, and within another 12 months, I found the love of my life and asked for her hand in marriage. Bundaberg has been the Home of the greatest milestones in my life.”
Kenny was appointed as Hitz 939 Music Director and Drive Presenter when Brendan Egan took on a Network Producer role for Grant Broadcasters.
“The greatest part of the entire experience is being a present figure within the community and now working with Hitz939 I feel that I can make my presence even more positive and be involved with Community events even more so. My role has changed from what it was at SeaFM to what it is now at Hitz939 in the most fantastic way possible. Who knows what can happen in another 12 months. Stay Tuned”.
Hitz 939 General Manager Trish Mears says the station is delighted to welcome Kenny:
“It’s great to see someone with so much enthusiasm and talent and with a love of their town. Kenny has already settled in so well it seems like he’s always been here”.
