New Triple J lineup for 2003

Triple J’s 2003 on-air lineup has some significant changes as the station comes to grips with new competition and tries to avoid growing old with its upper demographics . From the 13th January the station’s lineup will be:

Wil & Adam – 6am til 9am Weekdays

Adam Spencer and Wil Anderson are back for another year.

The Morning Show – 9am til Noon Weekdays

Will now be presented by Steve Cannane. “Steve has been a tireless worker as Sydney reporter for the Morning Show for 3 years, so we’re already well and truly familiar with his style. He’s filled in as host of the Morning Show on more than one occasion. We were so impressed, he was a natural choice for the job. Cutting edge issues stirred in with the more light hearted side of life.”

Lunch – Noon til 3pm Weekdays

Will now be presented by Myf Warhurst. “We first met Myf as a regular guest on the Merrick and Rosso drive program. And for the last year or so, Myf has been taking care of business on the Saturday night Net 50. Now Myf changes gear and gets into weekday afternoons for your listening pleasure.”

Mel & Charlie – 3pm til 6pm Weekdays

Mel Bampton and Charlie Pickering return with their “unique brand of humour in ’03.”

Super Request – 6pm til 9pm Weeknights

Rosie Beaton is back for ’03, “giving the listeners much more than they ask for with the hottest request-based music program in the land. Only now it’s more concentrated. Three hours a night instead of four.”

The Local – 9pm til 11pm Weeknights

“Introducing a brand new Triple J innovation. A two hour per night radio program dedicated entirely to new Australian Music. About time! Triple J all-rounder Robbie Buck takes the helm of this ground breaking show, bringing us the latest and greatest from this great talent-packed land of ours.”

Groove Train – 11pm til 1am Monday nights

Is now a two hour show, with Sharif Galal “doing the honours at the turntables, treating us to the coolest dance tunes.”

Full Metal Racket – 11pm til 1am Tuesday nights

For years Triple J’s heavy metal program has been known as Three Hours of Power. “Welcome to the revolution. It might have a new name, but you can bet Triple J’s hard rocker Andrew Haug will be making up for lost time in a big way in ’03.”

Artery – 11pm til 1am Wednesday nights

Fenella Kernebone returns for another year of reporting the arts. “It’s an exciting new night (moving from Sundays). The only way to stay up to the minute on what’s going on in the world of art, music and culture.”

J Files – 11pm til 1am Thursday nights

“The undisputed king of music knowledge, Richard Kingsmill, is back with the J-Files in ’03.“

The Hip Hop Show – 11pm til 1am Friday nights

“Itching to get yours ears on the most wicked Hip Hop sounds this planet has to offer? Nicole Foote is styling up for ’03, with the best new Hip Hop from Australia and OS.”

The Chat Room – 9pm til 11pm Sunday

This is something new on Triple J. Gaby Brown “will be throwing the mic open to you, letting you get it off your chest about whatever the topic of the day may happen to be. Still with a generous amount of music mixed in.”

The Sound Lab – 11pm til 1am Sunday

“Just when Fenella Kernebone thought she had escaped late Sunday nights (the original timeslot for Artery), along comes The Sound Lab. This is where we get to go off the deep end. Experimental new electronic sounds is where it’s at.”

Dance & Chill – 1am til 6am Saturday & Sunday

For years we’ve all woken up on Saturday and Sunday mornings listening to Triple J simulcasting Rage. Well that has come to an end. Now (if you wake up early enough…or don’t go to bed at all…) you’ll hear Nicole Fossati presenting “an incredible blend of dance music through the night and chill sounds in the early hours.”

Live-Music Reporters

“And be on the lookout for intrepid live music reporters Caroline Tran and Nicole Fossati. They’ll be frontstage, backstage, everywhere but onstage!”
