Newcastle Survey 2: NX FM drops from top position, KO FM gains

NX FM has conceded top position to sister station KO FM in Newcastle survey 2, released today. 2HD was the biggest improver of the survey.

 

KO FM moved to first place on 18.0%, gaining 0.9 share points overall, while NX FM fell to second place, losing 1.7 share points, from 19.0% to 17.3%.

2HD moved up to third place ahead of ABC1233, gaining 1.2 share points to 13.5%. ABC1233 lost 0.5 to come in fourth with 12.7%. New FM scored 7.4%, down 0.3, and Triple J dropped 1.6 share points to 6.5%.

NX FM won all the younger demographics, KO FM won 40-54s,  ABC1233 won 55-64s and 2HD won the over 65 age group.

KO’s David and Tanya had the top rating breakfast show, followed by NX FM, then 2HD, ABC1233.  KO FM won mornings, just ahead of 2HD, KO won afternoons, NX won drive, 2HD scored first place in nights, and ABC1233 won weekends.

NX has a weekly listening reach (cume) of 186,000 people, KO has 151,000 listeners each week, New FM has 106,000, ABC1233 has 111,000, and 2HD has 77,000 weekly listeners.

 

The survey took place in waves, between Sun Mar 7-Sat Mar 27, Sun Apr 11-Sat Apr 17, Sun May 2-Sat May 15, Sun May23-Sat Jun 5 and Sun Jun 20-Sat Jul 17, 2010

2HD’s Graeme Gilbert No1 in latest Newcastle Radio ratings.

All shifts go up on 2HD.

New FM maintains audience.
 
Newcastle with a population of over 520,000 people and growing (2006 Census figures) is the “capital of the Hunter Valley” and provides a vital media market for both local and national advertisers
 
The latest Nielsen Media Research Radio ratings released today show Heritage station 2HD increasing audience with a strong 13.5% share (up 1.2%) and all other shifts across the board increasing audience

2HD is No 1 Evening – Graeme Gilbert has claimed the No 1 position with a 24.6% share (up 5.6%)

2HD is No 2 Morning – Steve Liebmann with a 18.4% share (up 0.9%)
 
2HD is No 3 Breakfast – Richard King with a 12.3% share (up 0.7%)

2HD is No 3 Afternoon – John Carroll with a 11.0% share (up 2.1%)

2HD – Talk’in Sport has a 9.5% share (up1.7%)

2HD – Biggest audience share increase of all stations Monday to Sunday to 13.5% (up 1.2%)

New FM – has increased in target audience (25-44) to 15.4% (up 1.0%)
