“I’m glad I said far out everybody! I just had a possum just jump on me live on air!”
Live radio. There’s really nothing like it.
For Cheralyn Darcey broadcasting overnight from the Super Radio Network‘s 2HD in Newcastle, she had a show she’ll NEVER forget.
Just before 3am this morning, April 23, two things happened while she was alone in the studio, talking with trucker Simon. Firstly a 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit near Singleton at around 2.55am. Singleton is less than an hour from 2HD. As the earthquake happened a possum dropped from the ceiling above Cheralyn almost into her lap. Somehow Cheralyn maintained enough composure to not swear, get to the news and let the possum out of the studio. You can listen to it all as it happened above.
Cheralyn, you are amazing! We need an update on whether your new possum friend did make it outside or whether someone else got an equally huge surprise when they got to work this morning.
