Nielsen surveys released for both the Canberra and Wollongong markets

While i98 holds a relatively slender lead over rival WAVE in Wollongong, Ryan Cram (pictured) dominates in the afternoon slot. In Canberra, ABC 666 rises to second place to split the Canberra FM combo’s long time stranglehold on the first and second place.

General Manager of Canberra FM Radio (operator of both Canberra’s 104.7 & Mix 106.3), Eoghan O’Byrne, said “It is great to see both stations retaining their strong positions in the market. The absolute highlight of this survey is to see both stations winning in their core demographics. This continues both stations’ dominance of the Canberra Radio Market.”

Meanwhile in Wollongong…

Its been three years since the last full survey in Wollongong where all three major stations participated. And not much has changed since then. The current rankings (All Ppl 10+ Mon-Sun 5:30 – 12 am) are…

i98 FM: 21.2%
WAVE FM: 19.4%
97.3 FM: 14.5%

Despite, or perhaps because, of the relatively slim margin between the top two stations in a three station race, i98 was first out of the blocks with a media release that made it sound as if they had trounced the opposition by 10.

i98 FM is again confirmed as the Illawarra’s Number One station! i98 continues to dominate with a 21.2% share of the market, making them the clear number one ahead of their nearest rival Wave with only 19.4% share of the market.

Marty & Erica, who recently celebrated their 7th Anniversary as an on air duo in the region, continue to prove that they are the Illawarra’s number one breakfast show, with 61,200 people tuning in each morning to hear their favourite radio stars.

i98 continues to smash their rivals in the all important day parts with a white wash across the work day.

WIN Radio General Manager, Ryan Gracie was ecstatic with the results,
“After a long wait it is great to have confirmation of what we and the people of the Illawarra have always known, that we are the number 1 radio station. It’s a great reward for a lot of hard work by the whole team, and very much deserved.”

“Being streets ahead of the opposition in the key advertising demographics is very good news for our clients, it clearly highlights that i98 is the radio station of choice if you want to reach the people that count,” said Mr Gracie
