SBS Managing Director Nigel Milan will step down in two weeks. He has told the board he does not intend to renew his contract.
The broadcaster will begin a world wide search for Milan’s replacement. Head of television Shaun Brown will act in the position from August 19 until a permanent replacement is named.
Milan has been MD of SBS for almost eight years.
He says: “I’m confident I will be leaving SBS in a far stronger position to deliver public broadcasting at its creative best.”
SBS chairwoman Carla Zampatti praised Milan for his vision in turning the network into a 21st century broadcaster.
His early departure will fuel speculation about where his next position will be.
