Nine Radio stations begin their own traffic reports this weekend

Nine Radio has taken back traffic reporting from ATN with its own in-house team on deck in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

In Melbourne the reports will be filed by staff from the Department of Transport.

Nine’s increased frequency of reports is aimed at making traffic a key programming ingredient for the network’s talk and music stations.

Moving traffic reports under their own umbrella also means Nine Radio can take greater control of the commercial inventory and the only place clients can buy Nine Radio, will be through Nine Sales.

From Monday listeners will also hear a slight change in the top of hour structure around News, Sport, Traffic and Weather. This will be consistent across the Talk and Music networks and “creates premium and exclusive sponsorship opportunities,” according to a staff memo sent today.

Nine Radio recently advertised for reporters to staff the traffic reports on our jobs page.
