No sleaze or arrogance for new Mix 106.5 breakfast hosts

The Australian Radio Network has named Edge 96.1 presenters Mike Etheridge and Carmela Contarino, as the new breakfast hosts on Mix 106.5. They replace Sonia and Todd, who were dropped from the line up last month after ratings survey 6 placed them at the bottom of the Sydney breakfast pack.

The new team, who are better known to listeners of ARN sister station Edge 96.1 as Mike E and Carmela, will take over the breakfast slot next week, on October 6.

Current breakfast host Andy Grace moves to the other side of the day, to host Classic Hits Nights on the Classic Hits network nationally, while the current host of Classic Hits Nights, Christo, is moving over to host the Edge Breakfast.

ARN Sydney stations General Manager Anthony Fitzgerald says the new team brings a fresh new perspective to the Mix breakfast slot. They will “provide listeners with a current feel-good combination of good music, humour and must-have daily information, including live traffic reports and news updates.”

“Appointing Mike E and Carmela to the breakfast show on Mix 106.5 was one of the easiest decisions we have had to make at ARN for some time. They are an amazingly talented duo. We want to bring across all those listeners of other stations who are sick and tired of sleaze, mindless controversy and jaw-dropping arrogance. We want them to switch over to Mix 106.5.

“Mike E and Carmela will turn Mix 106.5 breakfast into the kind of fun, feel-good little cafe you pop into on your way to work every morning, before starting the day.”
