In what dmg says will be a first on Australian Radio, Canadian singer, songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen, will perform her current single “Call Me Maybe”, in NOVA’s Red Room via a Hangout on Google+. How’s that work? Log in this afternoon from 4pm to www.NOVAFM.com au to find out. Not only will you be able to see the show streamed live, you’ll also see how this technology allows announcers to connect to their fans and fans to connect to one another in real time.

Also 9  lucky Google + winners will get to ask questions and interact with Carly Rae & Nova’s host for the special event Shayne Sinclair .

Since launching regular Google + Hangouts with NOVA, the next step has been taken with this groundbreaking technology. The relatively new live streaming feature was launched with Smallzy’s Surgery, Nova’s national nights show. This was a natural fit as the audience for his show lives and breathes online.

The irresistibly catchy “Call Me Maybe,” which Jepsen co-wrote, began to climb the iTunes Singles chart after Justin Bieber tweeted the song to his 17.5 million followers. It received an additional boost after Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and other young stars filmed themselves lip-synching and dancing to the song and posted the video on Big Time Rush actor and singer Carlos Pena’s YouTube Channel, where it racked up a million views in 24 hours and became a trending topic on Twitter. It has now earned more than 33 million views, while the official video has attracted 26 million views. “Call Me Maybe” has been certified double-platinum in Australia as well as reaching No. 1 on the ARIA singles chart which she has held for the past 3 weeks.

dmg music, a division of dmg Radio plan to continue incorporating Google+ Hangouts as part of their on air and digital programming going forward, with further creative concepts in the works.
