The North Queensland Cowboys have gained four brand-new, fully committed fans – thanks to Townsville’s Triple M’s Cliffo & Kate Breakfast show and their one-of-a-kind Cowboys Christening.
Broadcasting live from Cowboys HQ at the Hutchinson Builders Centre ahead of the Cowboys’ first home game of the season, Guy ‘Cliffo’ Clifton and Kate Jeboult welcomed Allison, Jennifer, Scott and Craig – four die-hard footy fans ready to renounce their past allegiances and pledge lifelong loyalty to the Cowboys.
With Cowboys CEO Jeff Reibel giving his official endorsement, Cliffo – playing the role of celebrant – led the converts through their ‘conversion ceremony,’ which included handing over their former team’s gear, taking an official Cowboys oath, and receiving a ‘holy blessing’ from Cowboys players Tom Chester and Heilum Luki.
Among the converts was Scott, a lifelong Parramatta Eels supporter, who made the ultimate sacrifice – ditching the blue and gold to don the Cowboys’ blue and grey.
But it wasn’t just about bragging rights; one newly minted Cowboys supporter Allison walked away with a double season pass to all 2025 Cowboys home games.
While the newly christened fans’ loyalty was undeniable, unfortunately, their support wasn’t enough to spur the Cowboys to victory, with North Queensland falling 12-36 to the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday afternoon.
Listen to the full ceremony here and catch Cliffo & Kate on Townsville’s 102.3 Triple M from 6-9am weekdays, also on LiSTNR.
