Open Narrowcasting licence auction

The ABA will auction 22 Open Narrowcast licences for various towns and cities on 27 September. The auction comes after a tender period where nearly 100 licences have been up for grabs.

There was more than one applicant for the 27 licences to be auctioned. The most heavily contested licences are Penrith NSW and Adelaide SA, where there will be nine bidders, followed by Brisbane Qld with eight bidders, then Geelong, Perth and Perth City, followed by a range of regional areas.

In addition to those licences, 17 other licences in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia will be sold directly for $4000 each, because there was only one applicant for each. There were no applications for the other 57 licences.
