The bucket hatted DJ from Darwin, CYRIL has sealed a breakthrough year by topping the 2024 Year-End Top 100 Airplay Chart.
Stumblin’ In, a dance remix of Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman‘s 70’s hit, spent eight weeks at #1 on the weekly AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart with nearly 27,000 spins since the Nova Network first discovered it in January.
CYRIL, with two other remixes in the top 100, notched up more spins this calendar year than Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Billie Eilish. His second, with compatriot Dean Lewis was also a chart No 1 cover of Crowded House’s Fall At Your Feet and then in August he teamed up with Aussie singer-songwriter Kita Alexander on Spandau Ballet‘s ‘True’. This marks one of the best solo performances by an Australian artist on the radio airwaves for a long time.
Amanda Blue, Founder of Blue Music Services and part of Team CYRIL said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to see ‘Stumblin’ In’ resonate so strongly with audiences and receive such incredible support from radio.
This achievement is a testament to CYRIL’s talent and the hard work of everyone involved in bringing this track to life. A huge thanks to all the programmers, presenters, and listeners for embracing the song and making this possible.”
Taylor Swift was the most-played artist on radio this year with 86,740 spins, although CYRIL was not far behind. But for sheer volume Taylor had 108 different songs go to air with her as a lead or featured artist off the back of a world tour that has only just wrapped up. That figure that is unmatched by any other artist.
Swift also had five entries on the Year-End chart (Is It Over Now?, Fortnight, Cruel Summer, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, Karma), as did Dua Lipa (Training Season, Houdini, Dance The Night, Illusion, Cold Heart).
There were 19 singles in total by Australian artists in the Top 100, two fewer than last year.
