In an appointment that surprised the Perth radio scene this week, Linda Wayman has been appointed General Manager of Austereo in Perth. She is currently General Manager of Eventscorp, a subsidiary company of the Western Australian Tourism Commission. She commences July 15th.
Greg Worthington has been appointed Assistant General Manager Austereo Perth and began his new role this week. He will still also continue as Promotions/ Marketing Director for 92.9 but will be working closely with Wayman on both 92.9 and MIX 94.5.
As General Manager of the West Australian Tourism Commission’s EventsCorp, Wayman is credited for attracting major events to the State including the Johnnie Walker Classic, Telstra Rally Australia and a Rugby World Cup Group.
Before joining EventsCorp more than five years ago, Ms Wayman worked for the Victorian Government in developing opportunities for small business. Prior to that she was group editor of Peter Isaacson Community Newspapers.
Austereo’s Group Managing Director Brad March told AMT Wayman “brings to the network a diverse range of experience in the media industry and in business development… She has excellent skills in building and leading teams in a creative and complex environment.”
Wayman says she is “a competitor by nature and this is certainly reflected in my past roles where I have developed opportunities by competing on national and international arenas… I see my new role as presenting the type of challenge that makes a job really worthwhile.”
