Perth bands exhumed by ABC720

After sifting through many entries, ABC720 Perth has narrowed down its search for unknown bands to eight finalists.

Three weeks ago, 720 ABC Perth’s Mornings program put the call out for undiscovered, unrepresented and unprofessional bands. Bands that were deserving of being ‘exhumed’ from anonymity and thrust on stage to perform to a full house. The call was answered.

The station received entries from all over Perth, from punk rock bands who love The Clash to all female acapella bands who sing Christmas jingles. The 720 team has now listened to every entry, carefully narrowing the field down to eight finalists.

It was a task that required much deliberation according to 720 Mornings presenter John McGlue: “We were just staggered by the calibre of music being created by people all over Perth – and so pleased to see the entries flooding in.”

The eight finalists will now perform live in front of our three judges, John McGlue, Simon Collins and Anna Gare, then a live audience at the Fly By Night for the Exhumed Grand Finale on Wednesday 17th October. Joining the judges as MC, fresh back from his three month stint of long service leave will be Drive presenter Russell Woolf.

Tickets to the Exhumed Grand Finale are now on sale directly through the Fly By Night Musicians Club www.flybynight.org.

The eight Exhumed finalists to perform at the Exhumed Grand Finale are:

The Coburn Sound from Inglewood

The Lathams from Greenwood

Lost Pilot Effect from Fremantle String Tanglers

The Filth The Creative Lies from Balcatta

The Silent Minute from Stoneville

The Smugglers from Cottesloe

You can listen to each of finalists on the ABC Perth website.
