Perth, it’s time to set your alarm to a new Bell

720 ABC Perth has confirmed new Breakfast presenter Peter Bell will join the team from Monday 10 October.

A familiar voice on Perth radio since his retirement from football in 2008, the former AFL footballer and Fremantle Captain has spent the last few weeks getting ‘match fit’ for the Breakfast slot.

“I’ve been preparing myself for the big day by going to bed very early indeed – my three daughters are finding it highly amusing that my bedtime is before theirs. However, when the alarm goes off at 4am I now realise that the early risers are 100% correct. It really is the best part of the day” Peter said.

“It will be a huge lifestyle change for our family and I have to admit that I am more than a little nervous about the new role in Breakfast. But perhaps with the change in schedule, I’m more nervous about the responsibility of cooking dinner for the family every night!

I am so excited about this opportunity, and look forward to being part of people’s morning routines.”

Sarah Knight, ABC Local Manager, Perth, said “Ha!  Peter has nothing to be nervous about.  He is charming and disarming and I’m sure the Perth audience will welcome him with open arms. Okay, maybe the studio desk is a little overwhelming at first…”

“I’d also like to thank James Lush again for holding the fort so well during this difficult period. I know its been challenging for him in presenting for us as well as running his own business. I’m sure he’ll welcome handing the alarm clock over to Peter.”

One lucky 720 ABC Perth listener will get the chance to meet Peter before the rest of the audience in the station’s AFL Grand Final competition running across all programs this week. The prize includes two AFL Grand Final tickets, flights, accommodation and a pre-Grand Final meeting with Peter Bell.

Breakfast with Peter Bell on 720 ABC Perth can be heard weekdays between 5am and 7.45am from Monday 10 October on 720AM, DAB+ digital radio, via abc.net.au/radio and the ABC Radio app.
