Perth’s Sonshine FM completes Operation Christmas Child

98.5 Sonshine FM’s Operation Christmas Child concluded last Friday. Thanks to over 680 churches, businesses and individual Sonshine FM listeners, 2438 gift-packed shoeboxes were brought to the station for needy children worldwide.

The mountain of boxes was handed to Tricia Willans, WA co-ordinator for Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse will now distribute the ‘shoeboxes of love’ to poverty-stricken children in Cambodia and Indonesia who may never have received a present before. Each year shoeboxes are sent globally to children in over 85 destinations.

Equally inspiring were some of the reasons listeners got involved in Sonshine FM’s Operation Christmas Child. For one woman, sending her shoebox was an act in memory of her own son who died just three weeks ago.

Sonshine FM’s Operation Christmas Child is a partnership run annually between 98.5 Sonshine FM and Samaritan’s Purse in Perth. The management and staff of 98.5 Sonshine wish to thank the thousands of individuals who made the world of difference to needy children through Operation Christmas Child.
