Peter Dick returns to 4BC as Ian Maurice’s Replacement

Peter Dick will return to 4BC along with rising talk presenter, Clare Blake, replacing the departing Ian ‘Bear’ Maurice on afternoons.

With Maurice finishing up on Friday week, the pair will start on Monday 20 September.

A delighted 4BC General Manager, David McDonald, says Peter Dick is popular and a radio legend in Brisbane, after previous very successful stints at the newstalk station and the ABC.

“Clare is the fresh female voice on 4BC and is one of the few female voices on talk radio in Australia. She has already built a strong following on 4BC weekends.

“I’m excited at the prospect of having such a formidable combination on afternoons. This is something totally new for 4BC and I’m looking forward to the entertainment value, enthusiasm and energy they’ll bring to the station.”

Peter Dick says: “I can’t believe my wish has been granted – that if ever I was to work with someone on air, it would be Clare Blake.”

Blake was shocked and thrilled when approached by 4BC management: “Not only am I surprised to be given this opportunity, but honoured to be working alongside Peter Dick.”

4BC has granted Ian Maurice a release from the remainder of his contract ‘to pursue other opportunities in the entertainment and tv industries’.

Maurice says: “I’m pleased 4BC is able to accommodate this personal request.

“I’ll continue to do afternoons until Friday 17 September and then take about a four week break from broadcasting.”

Subject to further negotiations, it is expected that Maurice will be able to return to broadcasting on weekends with 4BC, while still still pursuing the entertainment and television opportunities.

David McDonald, while disappointed, is understanding: “Ian is a well respected and much valued member of the Radio 4BC team and it is good he is maintaining his links with the station.”
