Pharmacy Guild partners Dr John D’Arcy radio segments

As part of an ongoing campaign to promote the professional health-care role of community pharmacists, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia has joined Dr John D’Arcy as the new partner for his Health Check radio spot, which is broadcast to over 75 radio stations around Australia.

Each one-minute segment focuses on a message to listeners about a particular health issue or condition using the tag line “Ask your Pharmacist” at the end of the spot. Most commercial stations using the spot sell sponsorship to their local pharmacy.

Some of the topics covered by D’Arcy in October include:
Late Motherhood and its potential problems;
Tea bags and their medical uses; Colds sores and sties;
Can spuds spark your memory;
Anaphylaxis and peanut butter;
and Gas in the guts.

D’Arcy’s manager Peter Wall of Wall Media has told radioinfo:

“We believe there is considerable value for community pharmacies in having Australia’s best known doctor refer to the health-care role of pharmacists when talking about public health issues. It demonstrates that doctors and pharmacists work well together and value the role of each other in the health-care system.”

D’Arcy says the segment “not only reinforces the health-care role of pharmacies but also promotes a model of “shared care” between doctors and pharmacists.”
