Philip Clark to host 666 breakfast in 2014

High profile radio personality and broadcaster Philip Clark has been appointed Breakfast presenter on 666 ABC Canberra in 2014.

Philip has over 20 years experience in newspapers, television and radio. Listeners may remember Philip as presenter of Evenings on ABC Local Radio or recognise him from the ABC TV quiz program ‘Flashback’.

Andrea Ho, ABC Local Content Manager ACT, is confident listeners will enjoy having Philip as part of their morning routine, saying: “Philip Clark is an outstanding broadcaster and someone who has a knack for putting people at ease while conveying important issues. We are fortunate to have him on board and he will be an integral part of our team.”

Prior to joining the ABC, Philip worked as a lawyer, a ministerial staffer and as a senior journalist for The Sydney Morning Herald. He has also been a regular commentator on television programs including Sunrise and Meet The Press.

After several years working in commercial radio, Philip made a return to the ABC and has continued to fill in regularly on various ABC Radio stations. He currently teaches a course in Media Law at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Philip said: “Canberra was the first place I lived in after leaving home. I am a great fan of the city and have continued to visit regularly.”

ABC Canberra believes Philip is well known for his warm and engaging presence, humour and ability to communicate with audiences. He will provide a new but experienced ABC voice to the 666 breakfast show.

Philip will take up the breakfast presenter’s chair from Ross Solly, who is leaving the station at the end of the broadcast year to accompany his partner Samantha Hawley and their young family to South East Asia.

Philip’s first breakfast show will be in January 2014.
