Please don’t use my name and face for cheesy radio stunts: Meshel Laurie

KIIS Melbourne’s new breakfast team, the ‘always awkward’ Jase and PJ  began their first show today in keeping with their slogan.

They invited the new drive team on air with them and posed for social media photos holding and wearing merchandise for the previous breakfast hosts, Matt and Meshel, with the headline “classic stitch up.”

Meshel Laurie was not amused, replying to the instagram post with this put down, revealing that there never was any merchandise for their old show:

We never had t shirts or mugs, or any merch at all, so they’ve made these especially for a fake stunt. Sad. Please don’t use my name and face for cheesy radio stunts guys.

The breakfast duo moved from New Zealand’s ZM to Melbourne at the end of last year and spent December getting settled into Melbourne and previewing some of their stunts during the ratings year downtime.

In their first show this morning, Jase (an Aussie) acknowledged former hosts Matt and Meshel and defended his Kiwi co-host PJ against negative comments posted on the KIIS101.1 facebook page:

“[Matt and Meshel leaving] had nothing to do with us… of course we were going to say yes to this… It’s the opportunity of a lifetime…

“I just want to say to everyone listening, give us a go… if you don’t like us leave, but just lay off the negative stuff… ease up on facebook, give us a go.”

Keeping up their ‘awkward’ reputation, Jase and PJ also posted some ‘sick’ social media pictures in the lead up to their launch, which were later taken down.
