Podcasting: The new black

Radio teams have been uploading podcasts of their shows for awhile now but radio jocks are frequently popping up on-line with shows that operate outside their paid gigs.

The latest to launch their own podcast is Southern Cross Austereo’s National Production Audio Distribution Manager Amos Ashley and former Wave FM announcer Susan Rose.

The pair met at TAFE but recently launched Tha TMI Show. It’s a weekly podcast released at 7pm every Sunday night, focusing on a different social or mental health subject each week, such as self-esteem, stress, anxiety and depression.

While the framework of the show is light-hearted playing on the acronym ‘TMI’ (too much information), the show features a variety of both fun & serious interactive segments giving listeners the opportunity to have their “silly and serious questions answered, share their personal stories and confess secrets”.

For Amos the most important aspect of the project is its purpose,

“I want to create a new place, a new culture which is friendly, warm and fun, where we can all share, discuss and talk about social and mental health topics and themes which all of our lives revolve around”.

The show, whilst designed to be informative and helpful, does not substitute or replace individual professional treatment or advice, Tha TMI Show encourages anyone suffering any social, psychological or medical symptoms to seek professional help by promoting contact details of relevant help lines.

Tha TMI Show podcast is not associated or affiliated with SCA.

It can be downloaded on iTunes.
