Prominent Australian entertainer arrested in connection with Jimmy Savile case

An 82 year old prominent Australian entertainer has been arrested in Britain in connection with the Jimmy Savile paedophile case.

Police said the man falls under the strand of the investigation which is looking at complaints against people who are not directly connected to Savile.

The suspect, from Berkshire, is the 11th person arrested in connection with the case. He was bailed pending further inquiries and will appear in court in May.

Commander Peter Spindler of the UK’s Metropolitan police said Savile, now deceased, used his fame and celebrity status to “hide in plain sight” and had “groomed the nation.”

A January police report said Savile abused children across six decades at 14 hospitals, while working as a Radio DJ and TV presenter at the BBC.
