Public memorial for James Valentine on Friday May 29 

A public memorial ABC presenter and musician James Valentine will be held on May 29 at Sydney Town Hall with registrations to attend to be released in a series of waves.

The first round of registrations open on Friday, May 15 at 12:30pm and will be available on the 702 ABC Sydney website.

Valentine died aged 64 last month using voluntary assisted dying, two years after being diagnosed with cancer.

ABC Sydney station manager Nick Lowther said:

“His great love of the radio medium was what this was all about. He just wants to be able to have a chat through the people he’s organised to speak at his memorial.”

Richard Glover, who worked with James at the ABC and shared a long friendship with him, will host the event.

The memorial will also be broadcast on ABC Sydney radio and through the ABC listen app from 12:30pm to 2pm on May 29.
