Radio Australia broadcast live from the Philippines

Radio Australia’s ‘Asia Pacific’ program was broadcast live from
The University of the Philippines’ campus in Los Banos, Laguna, the Philippines last Saturday.

The special one-hour broadcast – from 9-10am on Saturday 10 May (Manila time) explored political, cultural and developmental relationships between Australia and the Philippines.

The event was the result of a cooperative
agreement between Radio Australia and DZLB – the AM radio station managed by the University of the Philippines’ College of Development Communication.

“We are delighted that our strong relationship with DZLB has given us the opportunity to broadcast a Radio Australia program live from the Philippines for
the first time,” says Radio Australia head Jean-Gabriel Manguy.

The special edition of ‘Asia Pacific’ was broadcast across Asia and the
Pacific on Radio Australia, on the internet and
via an extensive network of about 300 partner stations, which now deliver Radio Australia programs direct to their local audiences.

“The live broadcast from the University of the Philippines’ paves the way for the next stage in our relationship with DZLB. A formal partnership agreement
between DZLB and Radio Australia is expected to be signed next month. This
will
see the university radio station join our global partnership network and
enable
its listeners to hear a selection of Radio Australia’s education and
information
programs on DZLB,” says Manguy.

DZLB is heard in Laguna, Cavite, Batangas and Rizal and has an audience
reach of
four million people.
