Radio industry revenue up in Los Angeles

Los Angeles radio revenues topped US$ 1 billion 2004 for the second year in a row.

Revenue was up 1.5% on last year to $1.045 billion while advertising in other non-electronic media slumped. Local newspaper ad revenues were down 8.5%, while spot TV was up 1.3%.

President of the Southern California Broadcasters Association Mary Beth Garber says: “Radio is growing because more advertisers are understanding just how consumers use different media. People spend over one-third of their media time each day with their favorite radio stations. That’s usually more time than they devote to any other medium, including TV.”
