Krazy Kevin’s Bahrain Tsunami fundraiser

A British radio presenter working in Bahrain has turned what he thought would be a small Tsunami fundraiser in to a huge relief event.

Kevin Howarth, known on air as Krazy Kevin, hosted a fundraiser at the Diplomat Radisson Hotel in January expecting to raise about $500, but the momentum of the event and the accompanying radio coverage had at last count raised over US$100,000.

Kevin has told radioinfo: “Many of Bahrain’s societies and prestigious companies have come together… and 100% of [money donated] will be sent to those affected by the disaster through the international charity organisation DEC (Disaster Emergency Committee), an independent body which distributes funds evenly to people displaced by tragedies such as the tsunami.”

Kevin is still going with his fundraising efforts, now planning to shave his head for the right sized donation.

Krazy Kevin is married to an Australian and presents the Breakfast Show on 96.5 fm in Bahrain.
