Radio Unites for Fire Relief

Campbelltown’s C91.3 has delivered several thousand dollars in cash, food and clothing to a family, left homeless by a fire at Tahmoor on Sydney south western outskirts, in an inspiring demonstration of how commercial radio works together in times of tragedy.

C91.3 News’ Director, Greg Henricks, says when staff heard Nicole Haywood and her three children – Harry (the hero), Bree and Brittany – had lost just about everything, they felt they had to do something.

“By 7.30am, just five hours after fire had wrecked the house, donations were pouring in.

“The exercise again displays the generosity of a local community and the immediacy of the medium, with the C91.3 road crew making a huge delivery of desperately need goods by 5pm on the day of the blaze!

“Our thanks and that of the family also go to 2GB and 2UE, which both set aside valuable time to help promote C91.3 as the dropoff point for those wishing to make a contribution.”
