Radio veteran hangs up his headphones after more than 4,000 shows

Radio veteran Andrew “Robbo” Robinson is ending his tenure with the Vision Christian Radio breakfast show Rise & Shine and moving into management after more than 4000 shows.

Robbo hosted breakfast from 2001 – 2010, then back on brekkie from 2015 to now.

Becci Johnstone joined Rise & Shine as co-host at the start of 2016.

Both of Robbo’s boys were born during his first stint and his eldest is now engaged.

He has done shows from Nepal and Vietnam and Outside Broadcasts all over the country including places like Alice Springs, Cairns, Rockhampton, Broken Hill, Northern Tassie, Southwest WA, all over South Australia and in Townsville after the floods.

Radio and online Christian personality DJ Paine will fill Robbo’s chair to form a new on-air duo alongside long-time host Becci Johnstone.

DJ accepted the new role after previously leading breakfast shows in Geelong for 96three FM and the online startup TheTelly.live.

Vision CEO Phil Edwards says he is excited to bring DJ to Vision’s national audience, “Vision has been working hard to see God’s Word reach every corner of Australia through media since 1988, making it available for free to whoever might listen, read or watch.

“We see this move as part of a new era of growth for Vision, and we believe that DJ is the right personality for breakfast as we begin our first steps into the world of digital broadcast radio for the very first time.

“Both Vision Christian Radio and our music station V180 Radio are coming to the city of Brisbane via DAB+ Digital in April.”
