'now 26.6% of people in the five state capitals, listening on a DAB+'.
Digital radio began 2009. This is a remarkably poor penetration rate.
No one should be surprised about this, promotion has been equally poor.
The vision in the 80's to drive FM penetration seen at Paul Thompson's SA FM with mass giveaways of FM radios to drive up usage and partnering with car companies to install FM radios has not been seen with digital.
Simply, it's been pathetic and there's no change on the horizon to turn this embarrassment around. National broadcasters, commercial and community stations must do a lot better. Look to the 80's, it's a simple numbers game.
