Retro Rock Live moves to 2MCR

The show is making the switch after 11 years at 2GLF.

For the last 11 years Ben Hollist & Mark Flanagan have been hosting Retro Rock Live every Sunday night on Liverpool’s 2GLF.

Recently the 2GLF board imposed air-time fees after a narrow 22-20 vote win at a members meeting. This led the pair, plus the ‘World’s Worst Producer’ – Oliver Harvey, to make the move to 100.3fm 2MCR.

The shift has also meant a change of date and time for the show, now broadcast on Wednesday evenings from 9pm to midnight.

“Doing an evening shift is very easy for us considering the three of us work full time jobs” says Ben. “It is just a shame that the change in policy at GLF has meant that we find a new home”.

Ben has been with 2GLF on air for well over 20 years, inviting Mark to join him back in 2009.

“For some unknown reason, Ben and I seemed to gel so easily when we first started,” says Mark. “Perhaps it is because we hold the same view of life. Don’t take it too seriously, laugh out loud, say what you think & forget the PC crap. Oh and don’t forget the booze too”.

Mark first joined 2GLF back in 1999 doing Sunday breakfast before hitting the ‘big time’ for a couple of years at C91.3.

Ollie joined the show about six months ago after doing some very late night shifts at GLF: “I’ve been able to add another dimension to the show. As the World’s Worst Producer I make sure nothing happens without my approval. At least that’s what I think”.

The shows have been made available on the SCMA network in Victoria, and have been replayed on Variety FM Ipswich (Queensland http://www.varietyfm.com.au/) and also on Radio Tatris International based in Slovakia (https://rti.fm/), which has generated an extremely positive. “Must be the music we play…can’t think of any other reason,” says Mark.

Their final program with 2GLF is this coming Sunday April 22 from 8pm.
